Women may want to explore problems more through verbal communication than men. By discussing a problem, women find that they are able to explore solutions, strengthen relationships and be more involved with the person whom they are talking with. Women may feel more connected or feel more alone depending on how they are dealing with a situation.

Men are the opposite. A lot of men see dealing with problems as a way of showing how smart they are. They want to solve the problem and move on to the next problem -- no hassles. Men are more able to put their own feelings aside and take control of the situation by assuming authority in a problem solving process. Men seem to be distracted by the fact that they want to solve a problem and thus the quality of the way in which they solve the problem oftentimes is...

At the very center of sensitivity is the ability or capacity to create, appreciate and keep relationships that are important. Men and women have differing views about what an important or rewarding relationship is. Men may feel like being close to someone is playing physical sports games or being sexual while women may find that communication is the way to feel close. A lot of men find sharing secrets, divulging memories and talking about "feelings" very challenging and overwhelming.
